What is PM Awas Yojana?

The PM Awas Yojana was a scheme that was introduced by the central government of India for the upliftment of the financially weak citizens of the country. The vision of this scheme is to provide housing facilities to all the citizens of India, regardless of their financial status. The scheme will offer financial support and other benefits to the citizens who do not have a permanent house. Till now, the central government of India has built more than 2.65 crore houses, and the authorities are making necessary efforts to significantly increase this number in the near future. The scheme is very beneficial for all the citizens, and it will enhance the quality of living for various citizens.

Eligibility Criteria

  • All the families who are permanent residents of India and belong to the EWS/LIG/MIG category, live in urban areas and have no pucca house anywhere in the country.
  • The beneficiary who has been allotted a house under any of the housing schemes of the Central Government, State/UT Government, and Local self-government in the last 20 years in urban or rural areas will not be eligible to seek benefits under the scheme. 
  • For EWS households, the citizens must have an annual income under INR 3 lakh. 
  • For LIG households, the citizens must have an annual income between INR 3 lakh to 6 lakh
  • For MIG households, the citizens must have an annual income between INR 6 lakh to 9 lakh.
  • According to the government, special preference will be given to Widows, single women, Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens, Transgender persons, persons belonging to the scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes, Minorities, and other weaker and vulnerable sections of society.  
  • The government will also make sure that if a pakka house has been provided to the parents of any beneficiary under the previous housing schemes, then the beneficiaries will be considered only after other eligible beneficiaries whose parents have not availed of any benefit under the previous housing scheme are benefited.
  • The houses sanctioned under PMAY-U, which got curtailed by the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) after 31.12.2023 due to any reason on the recommendation of States/UTs, shall not be sanctioned in PMAY-U 2.0 to those beneficiaries.

  • Citizens’ Aadhaar details (Aadhaar number, name as per Aadhaar, date of birth).

  • STEP 1: All the citizens of India who want to fill PMAY Online Form 2025 are requested to visit the official website.

  • STEP 2: Once the citizens reach the home page of the official website they must locate and click on the option called Apply for PMAY

  • STEP 3: The instructions page will appear on your desktop screen the citizens must read all the instructions and after carefully reading the citizens can click on the option proceed

  • STEP 4: Now the eligibility check will appear on your desktop screen the citizens must enter all the details that are asked and click on the option “eligibility check”
  • STEP 5: On the next page, the citizens must complete their Aadhar authentication by adding their Aadhaar number and name as per Aadhaar. 
  • STEP 6: Now the beneficiary survey form for all verticals of PMAY 2.0 will appear on your desktop screen the citizens must enter all the details. 
  • STEP 7: The beneficiary survey from the citizens must enter all the details that are asked, including their permanent address, bank account details, employment status, and other essential information. 
  • STEP 8: After entering all the details, the citizens must quickly review it and click on the option “submit” to complete their process.
