During the special session of the state assembly, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced a new reduced electricity bill scheme called the Chhattisgarh Half Electricity Bill Scheme to provide the full benefit of half electricity bills to those households consuming up to 200 units of electricity. Under this scheme, electricity bills for domestic consumers will now be reduced by half for up to 200 units per month, doubling the earlier 100-unit limit. By offering this scheme government aims to benefit over 45 lakh households across the state by providing savings of Rs 400-Rs 500 each month. With the help of this scheme, the amount payable for the first 200 units will be half, to bring the bill down by about Rs 420- Rs 435. Consumers paying Rs 1250-rs 1300 earlier will now be billed roughly Rs 800- Rs 850. About Chhattisgarh Half Electricity Bill Scheme

The “Chhattisgarh Half Electricity Bill Scheme” is a revised electricity bill scheme announced by the CM of Chhattisgarh to provide affordable, reliable, and uninterrupted electricity to all consumers by reducing household electricity bills and contributing to Chhattisgarh’s energy self-reliance. Under this scheme, households consuming up to 200 units of electricity will now receive the full benefit of half the electricity bill, which is the directly expected to benefit 30 lakh domestic consumers across the state. On the other hand, households with electricity consumption between 200-400 units will also get a half electricity bill benefit for up to 200 units for a period of 1 year. Through this provision government aims to give all consumers time to install solar plants. Under one of the most line PM Surya, about 6 lakh consumers are expected to benefit from this provision. Along with this, the government will offer an additional subsidy of Rs 15,000 for 1 KW solar plants and Rs 30,000 for 2 kW or higher capacity plants to encourage solar adoption and gradually transition households from half electricity bills to free electricity. As per the data shared, a total of 42 lakh consumers in the state are targeted to benefit from the half electricity bill scheme by providing significant relief to householders, promoting renewable energy adoption across the state.

  • Applicant must be a permanent president of Chhattisgarh. 
  • Applicant must be an electricity consumer. 
  • Applicant must hold a valid electricity connection in the household.

Salient Features 

  • Reduced Electricity Bill:- The Government of Chhattisgarh has announced that electricity bills for domestic consumers will now be reduced by half for up to 200 units per month. 
  • Doubling the Earlier Unit:- The reduced amount helps in doubling the earlier 100 unit limit.

  • Solar Subsidy:- Under the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijali Yojana, the state will continue to provide a subsidy of Rs 15,000 for a 1 kW rooftop solar system and Rs 30,000 for 2 kW and above.
