The Muthulakshmi Reddy Scheme is a special relaxation maternity benefit scheme designed by the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Government of Tamil Nadu, for all expecting women across the state. Under this scheme government not only provides financial assistance but also a nutritional kit worth Rs 4,000 that contains iron syrups, mother health mix, food-grade plastic cups, a plastic basket with two handles, a cotton towel, dry dates, aavin ghee, and albendazole deworming tablet. Also, eligible women, along with this support, will also receive Rs. 5,000 from PMMVY, which is a central sector scheme only applicable to pregnant women. Under this scheme, pregnant women receive benefits directly into their bank accounts in the form of installments.
